Away from home again..

This is the middle of nowhere, this is where wild animals are surrounding you and there is no water. This is Tammela..

Ok, it was a little bit science-fictional begining, it wasn't that bad. But it's one of the most common things which Finnish people do, when they want to spend time with friends. They go to forest, rent a cottage, and do NOTHING :) the whole day.. Hehe, well there are something they do, which i will try to describe you by some pictures..

Let's see what you can do in a forest..

Lesson 1 : Play Soccer on Ice

You can play soccer on a frozen lake. The snow may be as high as your knees but it's not a problem, you can still go on.. It's really funny, try it for once or twice.. maybe more :) You can also try frisbee, it's also one very enjoyable thing for Finnish.

Lesson 2 : Go to sauna then to the lake

This is one very common thing in Finland. First they go to sauna ( really hot place ) , then get off there and run to the hole in lake ( which has been digged before ) and jump in.. I hear like you are asking if i did or not, and as predictable, NO ! :D But maybe next time..

Lesson 3 : Play Finnish-Style Bowling :

Well, in this kind of bowling, there are 12 sticks which has numbers on them, from 1 to 12, and they are standing on the ground. You have another piece of wood like a bowling ball. Then you try to hit the sticks but, the rule is that, if one of the sticks fall down, then you get the point which is written on it, but if more than one of them falls down, then you get the point of how many sticks fell down. You can see them in the pictures below, especially the second one is a state of art, pictured by Alper, while i was doing one of my best shots :D

Lesson 4 : Play Twister and become paralyzed !

And then what you can do is to listen the silence and voice of the wind in the deep forest..

21

By Goki

What is 21 ?

= 3 x 7

= 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6

21% of the air we breath is oxygen.

A game of table tennis is won by the first player reaching 21 points.

We live in the twenty-first century.

Twenty-one is a card game which is also known as Pontoon or Vingt-et-un. Its object is to
have a total score in one's hand nearest to, but not exceeding, 21.

Since 23rd of March, 2006, i'm also 21.. That is why i'm so interested in 21.. Last week, i had a birthday party in my flat with friends and my Turkish mates. It was really great to see all people i know together, Thanks for everyone involved. But i've to send my special thanks to Alper, Ercan and Mahmut ( in alphabetic order ) for preparing me such a great party and for all the things that they have done for me .. Iyi ki varsiniz lan !

PS : It's a been a little bit late for this post, but i'm really busy nowadays..

What is Wire ? What is Network ? Who am i ?

Don't worry, if you are one of those who knows nothing about computers, you are not alone and that's how we will earn money :D I mean the future computer engineers ..

This figure is what i have prepared while i was studying the wire types which are used in networking, I hope it helps people who also study these things. I dont know if you liked my style or not, i have done what came to my mind :D So it maybe out of every format which is used in these kind of figures..

So as we can see in the figure, every network device which connects to the same-type of devices as itself, uses cross-cables for this purpose. And the others are drawn on the figure. It was my first try, so i need some comments which will encourage me.

Do you call it a car ?

Yeah, i call it a car :D Well, this is the car that i've been talking about.. It was born in 1989, believe or not, they say that, some engineers who resigned from Porsche, decided to build a sportive and fast car for Renault.

That was the time they made this car :D In spite of the fact that, it doesn't want to work in the mornings, it's not a bad car, we bought it with 3 of my mates who are also studying here with me.

Life has changed so much for us, after we bought the car..
Before Reno :
- No one wants to go out and walk to anywhere.
- We dont actually know, where Turku, Hameenlina or Helsinki is.
- We dont know, how Finnish people drive on roads.
- We didnt know much about automatic gas stations, as we dont have any in Turkey :D

After Reno :

- We are mobile :D
- It's not a problem to go out and have a coffee at somewhere in the middle of the night.
- We go to school everyday to study !
- Now, we know all about Finnish traffic ! ( Does it exist ? After Ankara, it's like a babytoy. )

By the way, after this much advertising,.. We will sell this car, when we are going to go back to Turkey. So, if you are interested to buy it, maybe after 3 months.. You can have your name on the queue.. My contact details are on the left of the page ;)

Bonus Track :

Here is a bonus picture for girls :D Me, playing bowling with friends in a bowling place in Forssa.. By the way, i loveeee bowling.

Meal with Exchanges and Staff

Yesterday, we had a meal with the other exchange students, tutors and the staff of HAMK. It was a couple of days ago, when we had an email that there'll a meal with all other exchange students, tutors and the staff of our school. It let us to learn that, there is a very nice restaurant next to our school. They call it "Vanha Värjäri ", which is actually easy to pronounce, not like the other Finnish words :D

Well, the food was delicious as it was declared before, we had chicken something with lemonade something :D .. But one thing i have mention is , i love Finnish breads ! They really have great breads of all kinds.. We've met with Mr Heikki Ruohomaa, whom we have always heard but never had a chance to meet :D We had very funny and friendly conversation with him. As all the other staff in the school, he was also very kind to us.

Being Sick in Finland :D

After being so healthy for 1,5 months.. Eventually, i'm able to catchcold :D Actually, i'm not so bad at the moment, but i don't feel myself very well, either.. So i don't know if i'm sick or not.. But one thing i know is that, i've slept many hours today to cure myself.. As a man who likes to sleep, it wasn't a big problem, but i want to feel the health again, soon :D

Stockholm

Trip To Sweden !
Forssa - Turku - Stockholm
This week, i and my fellas decided to visit Stockholm.. Well, to go to Stockholm (Sweden), at first you must go to Helsinki or Turku, take a biiig boat from there, which also carries cars, and then you will find yourself in one of the greatest cities of the world. We've chosen Turku to take our boat. It took just a little bit more than 1 hour for us to go there, by our "brand-new" car :) I'd like to show you our car, one day, when i'm not lazy to take photos of it..
Allright, when we arrived at Turku, we have found a place named smth. like "Amorilla", and had some hot drinks there. But as i have seen so far, Turku is also a nice city with so much facilities in.
From left to right: Mali - Gokhan - Mahmut- Ercan
The absent one in this photo is Alper, who always take photos of us, unfortunately :D So in most photos, you aren't able to see him..
Well, i'd like to tell you some about the boat.. It has some 9 floors, and in every floor it has different facilities. The lowermost 2 or 3 floors are for cars, as it also carries cars to Stockholm. Then comes the cabins, where you can open your door with an electronic card which they give you when you check-in. It was the biggest boat i've ever taken. And the most interesting part of the trip is that, you actually go in the middle of a frozen sea.. So the boat always cracks the ices to make a way for itself.. It's sometimes so scary that, in the middle of the night, you wake up and see only unlimited frozen sea in front of you.
Some Pictures from the Boat:

Eventually Stockholm (after 12 hours trip)

So, we made it to Stockholm.. Now we are soooo tired, as we didn't sleep much the previous night. And we want to find a cheap place to sleep for some hours, then we'll go out and try to discover the city.. After a couple of hours we found a place to sleep. But it wasn't so cheap, and we rented it for a night but stayed there only 4-5 hours.. When you are so sleepy, you dont think about money that much :) By the way, in Sweden, you can't use euros everywhere, you have to change your money, it's like 9 krones ( not sure ) is 1 euro.. So everything seems to be very expensive as you pay at least 50 krones for the cheapest activities :D Here are some prices for you to have some opinions.. 22 krones: a big cup of tea, 850 krones : a room for double for a night, 67 krones: Burger King Menu ...
